About The Author
J. Radeino Ambe, supports community health in West Africa through her volunteer work mainly for AFE Projects One Health Initiative. She holds a doctorate in public health and applies her knowledge in traditional medicine to support indigenous frameworks alongside modern medicine, when available. She is the author of numerous peer- reviewed articles and is currently working on documenting traditional medicine usage and cultural practices amongst the Bwaatiye people (also known as the Bachama). The Bwaatiye are of the Chadic branch of the Afro-Asiatic language family, of the Chad basin in north-eastern Nigeria. She has a keen interest in documenting oral, cultural practices and the use of symbols, in the Sahel, in an effort to archive them so that future generations will have an understanding of their origins. She is interested in learning from indigenous medicine practitioners such as bone-setters, midwives, healers and shamans and sharing this knowledge with others.
